The North Country will see installation of more centerline “rumble strips” along state roads thanks to $3.3 million dedicated to the project from federal Highway Safety Improvement funds.
The rumble strips, or what the state Department of Transportation calls milled-in audible roadway delineators, are to be installed on 475 miles of rural, two-lane highways in the North Country.
Rumble strips have been proven to reduce head-on and run-off-the-road vehicle crashes, the press release from the state says.
