More rain coming to St. Lawrence Valley tonight, tomorrow

Rainfall last night gave way to partial clearing today as high pressure briefly built across the North Country, but another low pressure area will move through the St. Lawrence Valley tonight bringing another round of rainfall starting tonight and continuing Friday, according to the latest forecast from the National Weather Service.

Skies are predicted to be only partly cloudy Friday night, but the chance of rain returns Saturday and Saturday night before the sun re-emerges on Sunday.

Daytime high temperatures, around 60 degrees today, will slowly dip into the 50s through the weekend, while overnight lows will be in the 40s and might drop below the 40-degree mark Saturday night and Sunday night, according to the NWS.

The NWS forecast for the St. Lawrence Valley and northwestern Adirondacks:

• This Afternoon: Partly sunny, with a high near 61. Southwest wind around 8 mph.

• Tonight: Rain, mainly after 11pm. Low around 47. Southwest wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

• Friday: Showers likely, mainly before noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 59. Southwest wind around 8 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

• Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 42. Southwest wind around 7 mph.

• Saturday: A 40 percent chance of showers after 2pm. Cloudy, with a high near 57. Southwest wind around 7 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
