The dreary weather and the threat of flooding continues in the North Country, and the National Weather service says it is still particularly concerned about possible flooding along the Raquette River in St. Lawrence County and in the communities of South Colton, Colton, Hannawa Falls, Potsdam, Norwood, Norfolk, Raymondville, and Massena.
The Weather Service is keeping its flood warnings for St. Lawrence County in effect, and is keeping an eye on many rivers and streams as more rain drops on the North Country.
A general flood watch is in effect for the eastern North Country through this evening, in light of the rain that has fallen -- as much as an inch in some areas -- since yesterday.
They are still concerned about the Raquette River, and have extended their flood advisory for the river through Thursday morning.
A flood advisory means river or stream flows are elevated or ponding of water is occurring or is imminent.
The weather forecasters have also asked their network of weather spotters to be alert to "significant weather conditions."
The NWS office in Burlington says that several rounds of showers and thunderstorms can be expected through Wednesday.
Their forecast calls for a chance of showers today, showers likely tonight, a chance of thunderstorms Wednesday, Wednesday night and Thursday, and a continued chance of showers through Friday.
They are forecasting sunshine on Saturday.
