POTSDAM -- More people have paid their village taxes on time this year than last year to the tune of $30,000.

The village’s official tally of tax collection for 2017-18 appears to have been more successful than last year’s.

The amount of unpaid taxes as of Oct. 6 was $30,000 less than at the same time last year.

The Board of Trustees approved signing and sending to the St. Lawrence County treasurer the tax roll of unpaid taxes for the current period in the amount of $127,329.58, plus accrued interest and penalties of $8,913.07, for a total of $136,242.65.

Village Clerk-Treasurer Lori Queor said that was down $30,000 from last year.

“So more taxes were paid on time this year,” she said.
