POTSDAM -- The Potsdam Holiday Fund has placed over 60 Gift Giving Trees at Potsdam area businesses that donate space, time, and merchandise to help the local giving program.

“This is the most businesses ever that we’ve had participate,” according to Pam Yurgartis who helps organize the program.

Persons interested in donating a present for a child may pick a gift tag from any of the trees.

“Things are going well…the number of children seeking presents is up in areas like Colton, Pierrepont, Parishville, Hopkinton and we are taking their overflow,” Yurgartis said.

Families can apply to receive presents for children and a holiday meal package that includes a turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce and homemade cookies from BOCES students.

The students make about 300 dozen cookies to give away.
