More than 50 St. Lawrence County students enter art in Health Initiative contest

POTSDAM -- More than 50 students across St. Lawrence County in grades K-12 recently entered the SLC Health Initiative’s “Picture a Healthy Community” art contest.

The staff at the St. Lawrence County Health Initiative selected three winning entries and 12 honorable mentions.[img_assist|nid=200053|title=Winning artwork by Ogdensburg elementary school student Brady Shaver|desc=|link=none|align=right|width=250|height=193]

Brady Shaver of Ogdensburg is the winning student artist for grades K-4.

Esme Pignone, who is home schooled, is the winning student artist for grades 5-8.

Ashley Wilson of Morristown is the winning student artist for grades 9-12.

Honorable mention students who are home schooled include: Ava Clawson, Creed Clawson and Gavin Shaver.

Honorable mention students from Potsdam Central are Finnegan Melvin Dean and Millicent Opal Dean.

The 15 selected pieces of student artwork will be framed and on display at the SLC Health Initiative’s office.

They may be viewed for the first time during an open house on Tuesday, June 6 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm located at 6439 SH 56, Potsdam, NY.

The three winning students will each be presented with a Kindle Fire, donated by the Health Initiative, during that event.

The SLC Health Initiative thanks SLC Arts for being a community partner on the K-12 Art Contest.
