More than 2,500 National Grid customers were without power in St. Lawrence County following a storm that swept through the area earlier this afternoon.

Most outages were in the Canton-Russell area with 1,137 in the Village of Canton and 274 in the Town of Canton, along with 738 in the Russell area reported at about 3 p.m.

Other areas reporting outages were Clare, Dekalb, and Hermon.

By 4 p.m., the total number of outages was down to 1,406, with expected power restoration time of 6:15 p.m., National Grid said.
