OGDENSBURG – Montana horsewoman Bernice Ende made the Frederic Remington Art Museum a stop Wednesday on her tour of the North Country before she rides for home.
Ende, a 61-year-old riding veteran is on an 8,000-mile round-trip journey across the United States with her team of beautiful Norwegian Fjord mares, Essie Pearl and Montana Spirit. She started her trip, expected to take two and half years in total, in 2014 from her home in northern Montana and headed eastward to Maine. Ende is now on the return trip west.
Ende has been staying at Judy G. Boyer’s horse farm, County Route 28, Lisbon. Ende is documenting her trip on her website, www.endeofthetrail.com.
She arrived in St. Lawrence County from Saranac Lake late last week, stopping at Sevey’s Corners and at the Cedar Lodge in Parishville with her two horses before heading for Lisbon, Ogdensburg and eventually the Canadian border and her trip back west, taking back roads and camping out along the way.
Ende and her friends Judy Boyer and Joan Carlisle are avid horsewomen, and their visit to the museum was greeted with enthusiasm, a press release from the museum said.
