LISBON -- Bernice Ende of Montana has traveled 2,500 miles from home and after two years is about to head back.
She arrived in St. Lawrence County from Saranac Lake late last week, stopping at Sevey’s Corners and at the Cedar Lodge in Parishville with her two horses before heading for the Canadian border and her trip back west, taking back roads and camping out along the way.
“On Saturday as Bernice was approaching one of her stops in Lisbon I greeted her just before she arrived at my mothers farm,” said Rob Carlisle, shown here shaking hands with Ende, “one of the most amazing people I’ve ever met,” he said.
“She's a delightful person, so amazing she's rode more than 25,000 miles on horseback. To remain strong she sleeps outdoors in a tent and sometimes with just a tarp over her. Her horses are beautiful. She showcases how people once were all over the country and brings out the best it seems with everyone she greets,” Carlisle said.
Ende has a website at www.endeofthetrail.com/blog/ which includes a Today Show video of her.
