Heavy rain brought on by the remnants of Hurricane Nate should taper off Monday evening and give way to a mostly sunny midweek, according to the National Weather Service.
Meteorologists say chances of rain drop from 60 percent to 20 percent tonight, with precipitation stopping in most communities.
Tuesday is forecast to start with patchy fog giving way to a mostly sunny day with temperatures in the high 60s, dropping to around 40 at night.
Wednesday is forecast to be cooler, with temperatures in the high 50s and a 30 percent chance of showers around Gouverneur and Star Lake. Nighttime temperatures could sink down to the low 40s with 30 percent chances of showers continuing in those areas.
Thursday is forecast to be mostly sunny and in the low 60s, with evening temperatures dropping to around 50. There is a 30 percent of nighttime showers in Canton, Gouverneur, Massena, Potsdam and Star Lake.

Monday night - Rain likely before 8pm, then a chance of showers or drizzle between 8pm and 1am. Patchy fog after 5am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 57. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Tuesday - Patchy fog before 7am. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 70. Calm wind becoming west 5 to 8 mph in the morning.
Tuesday night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 41. North wind around 6 mph.
Wednesday - Partly sunny, with a high near 58. Northeast wind 6 to 8 mph.
Wednesday night - Mostly cloudy, with a low around 45. Northeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm.
Thursday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 64. Southeast wind 5 to 7 mph.
