PARISHVILLE – A Norfolk man was arrested April 19 for being in possession of a laptop computer from a residence on April 1 that contained a tracking application, according to state police.
Shawn L. McGregor, 38, was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a felony, troopers said.
A charge of second-degree burglary had been reported, but was retracted before arraignment.
State police say they were able to locate the stolen laptop at McGregor’s residence on the Grantville Road in Norfolk due to an app on the victim’s smart phone that allowed her to track her computer.
This laptop computer was reportedly stolen from 382 West Parishville Rd.
McGregor was arraigned in Potsdam Town Court and was sent to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility without bail.
He is scheduled to appear court April 23 at 9 a.m.
McGregor has also been identified by Wal-Mart staff in Malone as having shoplifted numerous items from the store, including a television, totaling $817.58, a few hours prior to his arrest. Charges are pending.
