MASSENA – The Massena Memorial Hospital Board of Managers Monday night approved a collective bargaining agreement extension with the Civil Services Employees Association, working at the hospital and who are represented by the Local 887 for the purpose of collective bargaining.
The local CSEA, working at the hospital, ratified the agreement Thursday, Dec. 2.
This agreement covers approximately 213 licensed practical nurses, health care technicians to include radiology, laboratory, physical and respiratory therapy, service, maintenance, and clerical employees at Massena Memorial Hospital.
The agreement includes a wage increase for all members, represents a 2 percent increase to wages and benefits, throughout the duration of the contract. The agreement represents a commitment of $168,000 of additional money to wages.
Additionally, the hospital board approved a one-year collective bargaining agreement extension with members of the New York State Nurses Association union. The local registered nurses, working at the hospital, ratified the agreement Wednesday, Nov. 28.
The NYSNA agreement, which affects 97 registered professional nurses at Massena Memorial Hospital, represents a 2 percent increase to wages and benefits, throughout the duration of the contract. The agreement represents a commitment of $125,000 of additional money to wages.
“We acknowledge the value of these healthcare professionals at a time when there is a continuous shortage of experienced registered nurses and healthcare professionals,” said MMH CEO Chuck Gijanto. “We are very pleased with the final outcome of the negotiation sessions with our RNs and CSEA union teams and management. All worked hard to arrive at a fair and equitable agreement. We look forward to working with our nurses, health care technicians, service, maintenance, and clerical employees with these contracts.”
Both agreements are effective through Dec. 31, 2019.
