MADRID – Only minor damage was reported Friday after fire broke out at a home a 2042 NYS Hwy. 310, according to St. Lawrence County fire investigators.
The Madrid Fire Department and Rescue Squad responded at 3:32 p.m. to the property owned and occupied by Carl Planty and four others.
Mutual aid was provided by the West Potsdam, Morley and Norfolk fire departments. The Canton Volunteer Fire Department was on standby.
No one was home at the time, investigators said. Madrid firefighters returned to the station at 6:08 p.m.
Cause of the blaze is under investigation, fire officials said. The building was insured, officials said.
