IRVING Tex. -- The Potsdam Ice Storm 16 and Under Girls beat the Connecticut Polar Bears 4-1 in their third game of the 16U Nationals to clinch the American Division top seed Friday.
Ally Miller opened Potsdam's scoring, assisted by Kady Hart, in the first period to bring the Ice Storm back from a one goal deficit. Both teams went scoreless in the second period.
Maddy Dillabough held Connecticut scoreless for the rest of the game with a total of 28 saves for Potsdam.
Early in the third period, Megan Plumb scored Potsdam's second goal assisted by Bailey Dillabough. The third Potsdam goal was netted by Ally Miller, assisted by Jenny Tardelli And Jordyn Clothier, to continue the rally for a 3-1 Potsdam lead.
With 28 seconds remaining in the third period, Ally Miller scored her third goal clinching the victory for Potsdam.
The Ice Storm play the quarter-final round this morning playing the Alliance Bulldogs from Texas.
The winner of the quarter-final advances to the semi-final Saturday evening at 6 p.m. Central Time.
