OGDENSBURG – Ogdensburg police busted a meth lab Aug. 8 after firefighters received reports of smoke emanating from a Lincoln Avenue apartment.
Ogdensburg Fire Department and Police Department responded to 412 Lincoln Ave. for a report of smoke emanating from the upstairs apartment.
The investigation into the incident revealed that a “one-pot” methamphetamine manufacturing operation failed, exploded and caused small fire. The fire was extinguished by the resident prior to arrival of first responders.
Joseph J. Fleming, 53, was arrested for unlawful manufacturing of methamphetamine in the third degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree degree and reckless endangerment in the second degree.
Fleming was arraigned in Ogdensburg City Court by the Honorable Judge Gary Alford and was released to the supervision of probation.
The Ogdensburg Police Department was assisted on the scene, by the Ogdensburg Fire Department, the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office and the New York State Police Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team.
