Potsdam Chamber Director Marylee Ballou presents $133 to Potsdam Neighborhood Center director Daisy Cox.
POTSDAM -- The “Merry Tuba Christmas” concert held Dec. 13 and organized by the Potsdam Chamber of Commerce raises $133 for two local organizations.
“This was the fifth year the chamber has been organizing this concert with the wonderful support of the Potsdam United Methodist Church as the host venue,” said Potsdam Chamber Executive Director Marylee Ballou.
“We had a wonderful group of 18 musicians which included Crane School of Music students, local musicians, a player from Morrisonville (near Plattsburgh), and two Canadian; one from Carrying Place Ontario, and Kingston Ontario via the province of British Columbia. She is a student in Kingston and had played in our concert two years ago,” Ballou said.
The chamber said they wish to thank the musicians, Kyle Tupper for conducting the group, Ron Berry for help in organizing, and the wonderful audience members who attended.
“Although the concert is free of charge for the audience, we do put out a donation Tuba. We split the donations this year between the Potsdam Holiday Fund and the Potsdam Neighborhood Center. Our generous audience donated a total of $266 so each group received $133,” she said.
