Memorial Hospital Board of Managers approve new one-year collective bargaining agreement with CSEA

MASSENA -- The Massena Memorial Hospital Board of Managers have approved a new one-year collective bargaining agreement with Civil Services Employees Association (CSEA) Local 887 representing workers at the hospital, according to a press release from the hospital Tuesday.

The local CSEA, ratified the agreement Thursday, June 15, the hospital said.

The hospital managers approved the agreement at their board meeting Monday, June 19.

This agreement covers approximately 224 licensed practical nurses, health care technicians to include radiology, laboratory, physical and respiratory therapy, service, maintenance, and clerical employees at MMH, the notice from the hospital said.

The agreement includes a wage increase for all members, the creation of an additional wage grade, and changes to the medical insurance benefit. The agreement represents a commitment of $226,464 of additional money to wages, according to the hospital.

“We are pleased that CSEA and MMH have agreed to a contract that includes an increase and recognizes a commitment of our valued employees,” said MMH Chief Executive Officer Robert Wolleben. “All worked hard to arrive at a fair and equitable agreement that addresses the shared interests of both parties and market conditions.”

“Our union represents 224 individuals that ensure the best patient care and hospital in the North Country,” said PT Assistant and MMH CSEA President Carrie French, quoted in he hospital’s press release. “Our negotiation team worked hard for a fair contract for all CSEA members,” she said.
