Two AAUW-St. Lawrence County Branch members will be attending the American Association of University Women–New York State convention this weekend.

AAUW-NYS Public Policy VP Donna Seymour, Potsdam, and AAUW-SLC Public Policy Chair Kathleen Stein, Canton, will join nearly 150 other AAUW members at Honor’s Haven in Ellenville in the Catskill Mountains.

The convention -- “A World of Wellness: Stimulating the Mind, Energizing the Body and Inspiring the Soul" -- will explore the many ways we respect and care for our personal physical, mental and spiritual health as well as the health of communities.

Associate Director of the Center for Women’s Global Leadership at Rutgers University, Dr. Savi Bisnath, will offer the keynote address on Saturday evening, focusing on “Women’s Leadership, Women’s Rights, and the Role of the Academy.”

Highlights of the weekend will include a keynote address by Patricia Fae Ho, national president of AAUW, and Lauren Mancuso, a Title IX litigant, who will speak at the Legal Advocacy Fund luncheon.

Membership in the St. Lawrence County Branch, founded in 1927, is open to anyone who supports the mission of AAUW, advancing equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy, and research.
