POTSDAM -- This week, including tonight, people can get a look at a version of the tourist information kiosks that will be placed in Raquette River communities.

The prototype kiosk will be on display in the Civic Center Board Room tonight from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and daytimes through Friday this week fro 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Local designers Clever Toad and Northeastern Sign Corp. the Potsdam-Colton Tourism Beautification Committee and the state Department of Environmental Conservation have devised kiosks that will be placed in Potsdam, Norwood, Postwood Park in Hannawa Falls, Massena, South Colton, Long Lake, Akwesasne, Tupper Lake, and Piercefield with four panels that will include a map of the entire Raquette River Corridor and localized guides to things to do and see.

The kiosk on display in Potsdam is an original prototype for the kiosks, according to village Planning and Development Director Fred Hanss.

“Every community will put their own signature on it” Hanss said. “Each will have one panel of different information.”
