MASSENA -- The Dwight D. Eisenhower Visitors’ Center, located at the U.S. Eisenhower lock, will not open to the public this Memorial Day weekend, due to facility maintenance to repair winter damage.
During the repair period visitors can visit the Eisenhower Lock North Side Observation area, which is open throughout the year.
The repairs on the facility have which included replacement of the main building’s roof and repairs to the ground floor of the center that suffered water damage. The 50-year-old structure sustained damage after a failure of the roof, which also houses the main level of the observation deck.
Work should be completed within the next few weeks.
