MASSENA -- A Massena woman who thinks the body of a woman found in Massena in August might be her missing daughter has been charged with aggravated harassment.
Bonnie S. Lamay, 46, has allegedly been threatening people, according to state police. She was charged Tuesday evening with second-degree aggravated harassment: communicating a threat, troopers said. Authorities said they received a complaint Monday evening.
On Aug. 29, a body was recovered of of State Rt. 420 in the Town of Massena. At the time the body was too decomposed to make an identification and investigators were searching through missing persons data to look for clues. The body was subsequently said to be that of a female, but nothing more was said by investigators.
According to friends, Lamay believes the body may be that of her daughter, Lacey Yekel, reported missing by her mother. They also say state investigators have taken a DNA sample from Lamay, but no one has heard anything back from police.
State police today have not responded to requests for information about any part of their investigation, including results of any DNA tests.
