A 48-year-old Massena woman injured while hiking near Tupper Lake on Saturday had to be helped out of the woods by state forest rangers, according to the Department of Environmental Conservation.
The woman, who was not identified in a DEC news release, was about a mile from the Coney Mountain trailhead and called 911 to report a possible lower leg injury, the DEC said.
Franklin County 911 got her coordinates from her cell phone and relayed them to a state forest ranger, who found her at 3:06 p.m., DEC said.
He assisted her on the walk back to the trailhead, which they reached at 3:48 p.m., where she declined further medical attention, DEC said.
