MASSENA -- Village Treasurer Patricia Dumas told the Board of Trustees on Wednesday that retirement rates for village employees, police and firefighters are going down.
The municipality’s total bill for the employee retirement system for 2014-2015 will be $551,650 – a $52,567 savings over last year, or 8.7 percent.
The police and fire retirement system will cost $562,854 – a $67,441 savings over 2013-2014, or 10.7 percent.
The combined savings will be $120,008.
Dumas’s report says the tab is calculated by the state Comptroller’s Office, based on a projected salary base for April 1, 2014 through March 31, 2015 and is subject to change.
