MASSENA -- Village spring cleanup dates are set for April 27 to May 1 north of the Grasse River and May 4 to 8 south of the Grasse River.
Crews will traverse a street one time. Only clear bags are permissible, no dark bags.
The DPW asks that people separate their refuse into separate piles for metal, tires and Freon items.
The DPW will not pick up construction debris, including sheetrock, asphalt, concrete, wood, porcelain items (toilets, sinks, etc.), ceiling tiles, shingles, vinyl siding etc.; televisions, computers, cell phones, fluorescent light tubes, motor oil, batteries, chemicals, aerosol spray cans (unless totally depressurized), driveway sealers, wood preservatives, corrosives, oil-based paints or propane tanks, unless the valve is removed.
Crews will pick up dried latex paint, carpet and rugs, Freon items and tires, printers, keyboards and furniture.
Cardboard should be left for recycling.
The village will allow residents to dispose of brush at 536 South Main St. with a voucher. There is no commercial brush disposal.
