MASSENA -- Village officials are considering uniform downtown building standards.
The Board of Trustees on Tuesday briefly discussed a proposal included with documents made public at the meeting to regulate what materials can be used, which also restricts dimensions and design standards for things like windows, doors and awnings.
The idea is a small part of a document Mayor Tim Currier calls the Core of the Community Plan, which he said is over 700 pages long.
“It’s so we have uniformity in the downtown corridor,” he said.
“It looks good … leaves little room for questions,” Trustee Tim Ahlfeld said.
Among other things, the document also includes restrictions on how signage, colors, plant potters and security measures, such as metal grating, can be used.
It is available from the Village Clerk’s Office.
