MASSENA -- The village collected 91 percent of their 2016-2017 property taxes, falling short $530,265 from 364 parcels, Village Treasurer Julie Sharlow told the Board of Trustees at their Tuesday meeting.
She said the collection brought in $5,572,000. The county will pay off the 9 percent that wasn’t paid, and those owners have until January to pay or it will be added to their next county tax bill.
There is also $37,897 in outstanding interest and fees, which will also come from the county and billed to the property owners, Sharlow said.
Last year, the unpaid roll was $559,474 on 364 parcels.
