MASSENA -- The Village Board voted to hold an April 7 public hearing at 5:30 p.m. to discuss a local law allowing them to override the state-mandated 2 percent property tax cap.
The board hasn’t released any budget specifics yet.
They are planning on work sessions at 5:30 p.m. on April 9, 13, 14, 20 and, if necessary April 23.
Last year’s budget hiked taxes by 4.75-percent. The final tax rate, at 100-percent equalization, was $14.99 per $1,000 of assessed value.
