MASSENA -- WNTS television, a local cable station in Massena, will add internet broadcasting beginning Nov. 1.
The internet broadcast will be available at www.wnts.tv and will be a simulcast of their cable channel 1301, but will continue around the clock online after the cable broadcast goes off the air.
This supplements the online Facebook page which has developed a following of over 30,000 reaches per week. WNTS will also have interaction with viewers through Facebook with some programming choices such as voting on movies or specials, and for viewer feedback.
WNTS uses "Star-Cast," a proprietary software package developed by Mike Jones of StarTech Computer, Massena, for scheduling and streaming. This software, which has been in development over the last three years, is also in use by several other broadcasters across the country.
Jones hopes to bring all cable broadcasters online and move toward a national network of local stations reachable on the web.
