MASSENA -- A Massena man was jailed on a drug possession felony after allegedly discovering cocaine in his vehicle early Thursday morning.
Timothy D. Alguire, 33, of 95 South Grasse River Rd., is facing one count of fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was also charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
Court documents said Alguire was pulled over on Andrews Street and a search of his vehicle allegedly yielded two baggies of cocaine hidden in the sun visor mirror. They had a combined weight of one gram, according to police.
According to New York state law, possession of ½ gram or more of cocaine is a felony; anything under that is a misdemeanor.
Alguire was arraigned in Massena Village Court and remanded to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility, Canton in lieu of $2,000 bail or $4,000 bond.
