MASSENA -- While there is the occasional tension between Massena’s two governing bodies, the village board on Tuesday and the town board on Wednesday each said they will pen letters in support of the Arts and Theater Association’s efforts to revitalize the former Schine Theater on Main Street.
“I’d be more than happy to do that,” Mayor James Hidy told R. Shawn Gray of the theater association.
The town board passed a unanimous motion okaying Town Supervisor Joseph Gray to send a correspondence in favor of the project.
The group is applying for a River Valley Redevelopment Agency grant to get the place back in working order. It has been closed since the 1990s.
