MASSENA -- The Town Council is considering trading a piece of property on state Route 131 across from the Alcoa west plant in exchange for a piece of Alcoa’s property on Horton Road.
Town Supervisor Joseph Gray said the Alcoa land is in the neighborhood of 300 to 400 acres and Massena’s chunk is considerably smaller.
“They want their property to be contiguous,” Councilman Charles Raiti said of Alcoa’s motivations for the trade.
Gray said he has a letter from the Environmental Protection Agency that states the Alcoa land is not contaminated.
“I want to see the property,” Gray said. “Let’s do some research. I’ll try to get a report back to you (the board) next month."
