MASSENA -- The Town Council tabled a request from Community Bank N.A. to open a deposit account for Massena Memorial Hospital because they don’t know what the account will be used for.
Town Supervisor Joseph Gray said the bank, not the hospital, contacted him and requested use of the town’s taxpayer ID number on the account. The signers will be MMH CEO Charles Fahd and James L. Smith.
“I don’t know if they need it or not,” Gray said.
“I don’t think its good practice to throw our ID around and not know what it’s for,” Councilman Charles Raiti said.
The board anticipates revisiting the issue at their Nov. 20 meeting.
MMH public relations officer Tina Corcoran did not immediately return a request for comment regarding the matter.
