MASSENA -- The Town Council is applying for a $28,197 grant from the St. Lawrence River Valley Redevelopment Agency to help fund the Feb. 13-22 Lake St. Lawrence River Chill.
“They have accepted. We have to actually formally apply,” Gray said at the Town Council’s Wednesday meeting.
The event’s total budget is about $70,000, he said.
“A bunch of that is the hockey game, which will actually generate revenue,” according to Gray.
He is referring to the Montreal Canadiens Legends game, which will pit well-known Habs alum against locals. Guy LaFleur will make an appearance.
“There’s $15,000 from the three communities, plus this, plus revenue from events,” Gray said.
In November, Massena opened a bank account for the event with $5,000. He said the towns of Louisville and Waddington are each chipping in $5,000.
