Massena town board okays rental deal at Massena airport with FAA

MASSENA -- The Town Council unanimously decided to rent out office space at Massena International Airport to the Federal Aviation Administration.

They will receive $500 per month for the 240-square-foot space in the terminal’s room 18.

The deal is retroactive back to October 2012 and is good until September 2022. Starting in 2017, the FAA will pay an additional 3 percent per year until the lease expires.

The FAA stopped paying rent in October 2012 because the Washington, D.C. headquarters was unaware that they had moved the space to the new terminal, even though the staff had relocated.
