MASSENA -- The Massena village board will hear public comments on a proposition to allow limited open burning within the village during their Feb. 18 meeting at 5:30 p.m. at the Town Hall.

Residents will be legally able to have an enclosed fire, such as a barbeque pit or chiminea, in their yard. Residents would have to comply with a number of restrictions and will have to have fire suppression nearby.

Several village heads, including trustees Patricia Wilson and Francis Carvel, said at the board’s Jan. 21 meeting that they support the measure.
