MASSENA -- The town will pay for newly sworn-in Councilmen Samuel Carbone Jr. and Thomas Miller to attend a three-day seminar in New York City.
Other board members, including Supervisor Joe Gray and Councilmen Albert Nicola and Jon Macaulay said the knowledge they received there proved invaluable.
“It’s money well-spent … there’s a full agenda,” Gray said, adding that between travel expenses, meals and lodging it can possibly exceed $1,000 per head. “It’s written into the budget.”
Nicola noted that the town didn’t send anyone last year in light of the more than 20 percent tax increase.
The event runs Feb. 16 – 19 at the New York Hilton. The board rescheduled that month’s meeting to Feb. 26 to accommodate the event’s timing.
