Massena school board approves spring coaches, resignation, retirement

MASSENA -- The Massena Central school board on Thursday approved a list of spring coaches, a retirement and a resignation.

The board voted to accept Patrick Henry Jefferson Elementary physical education teacher Patrick Henrieā€™s retirement at the end of the school year.

Julie White resigned as a high school educational support specialist on Jan. 20.

Anthony Carafella will take a leave of absence as a junior high social studies teacher from Feb. 13 to June 30.

For varsity baseball, they approved Coach Greg Paquin at a $5,097 salary and volunteers Taylor Zappia and Adrian Taraska.

Steve Lashomb was approved as JV baseball coach with a $3,453 salary. Alex Kormanyos was approved as a JV baseball volunteer.

For modified baseball, Sam Zappia was approved as a coach with a $2,910 salary along with volunteers Jogn Acton and Pete Firnstein.

For varsity softball, the board approved Coach Susan Macaulay at a $4,526 salary and volunteers Lisa McKeel, Stephanie McKeel, Shannon Dillabough and April Charleson.

On the varsity boys lacrosse team, Kris Covell will coach and receive a $4,526 salary and Robert Davis will volunteer.

For varsity girls lacrosse, Jeff Slack was approved as coach for a $4,526 salary and Robert Todd was okayed as a volunteer.

On the modified boys lacrosse team, Jim Morrell will coach at a $2,689 salary and Troy Mitchell will be a girls modified lacrosse volunteer, the board decided.

Mike Matejcik was approved as a golf coach for a $2,689 salary.

Dak Zaza was approved as a girls spring track coach for a $5,097 salary and Teresa Grigg was approved a team volunteer.

For boys spring track, Thomas Oldenburgh will coach for a $3,924 salary, the board decided.
