MASSENA -- The Board of Education on Thursday approved a slate of winter sports coaches and several substitutes.
The board okayed varsity boys hockey coach Michael Trimboli ($4,617 salary) and assistant coach Ken Hurlbut ($3,614 salary), girls hockey coach Greg Paquin ($4,390 salary), assistant coach Taylor Zappia ($3,388 salary) and volunteer Alexander Kormanyos.
For basketball, the board approved boys varsity head coach Tim Currier ($5,199 salary) and volunteers Nathaniel Currier and Tom Miller. On the varsity girls team, the coach will be Justin Shope ($4,390 salary) along with volunteers Sophia Rusaw and George Trippany, the board decided.
The board approved junior varsity basketball boys coach Brandon Downs ($3,614 salary) and volunteer Matt Perry, along with girls JV coach Jarred Shope ($2,743 salary).
Modified girls basketball head coach will be Zachery Marcellus ($2,743 salary) with volunteers Adrian Taraska, Sophia Rusaw and Logan Norris. Boys modified basketball coach will be Mike Matejcik ($3,388 salary) with volunteer Pete Firnstein, the board decided.
The board also approved: rifle coach Kevin McBath ($5,199 salary); cheering coach Sandra Brault ($2,195 salary) and volunteers Tommie Jo Villnave, Jenna Brault and Emme Brault; varsity winter track coach Dak Zaza ($5,199 salary) and volunteer Teresa Grigg; modified winter track coach Anthony Diagostino ($2,968 salary); varsity wrestling coach Scott Perrine ($5,199 salary) and volunteer Hunter Perrine; and modified wrestling coach Shawn Noel ($4,002 salary).
For substitutes, the board okayed: Jacob Chapin, long-term high school teacher substitute certified in social studies, $100-$150 per day; teacher/teaching assistant substitutes Elizabeth Johnson and James Hidy ($85 or $80 per day); and support staff substitutes James Hidy, Elizabeth Johnson, Gerry Sabanal and Tania St. Thomas at $10.50 per hour.
