MASSENA -- The Massena Central Board of Education on Thursday appointed an elementary teacher and substitutes and accepted a resignation.
The board voted 5-0 to accept all of the personnel items. Board members Paul Haggett, Ron Faucher, John Boyce and Loren Fountaine were not at the meeting.
Brenna Snyder was hired as a Jefferson Elementary teacher, effective Aug. 31, 2017 to Aug. 20, 2021 at a $42,286 salary.
They hired two teacher substitutes, Ellen Copeman retroactively effective April 26 and Deborah Croff, effective Sept. 1, each at $80 per day.
The board named support staff substitutes Maribeth Patterson effective May 5 hour and Justin Raymon retroactively effective April 24, each at $9.70 per hour.
Peter Nezezon was appointed a bus driver substitute effective May 5 at $15 per hour, pending physical clearance, according to a list of personnel action items.
Jacenta Fregoe was appointed a long-term licensed practical nurse substitute at Madison Elementary from May 9 to June 30 at $80 per day.
Ellen Copeman was named a long-term teacher substitute at the high school from May 4 to June 14 for $80 to $120 per day.
The board also voted to accept high school special education teacher Meagan Kirchoff's resignation effective June 30. She cites personal reasons, according to the board's personnel action list.
Although the board took no action, they were also notified that Madison Elementary teacher Jennifer Earl and Nightengale Elementary special education teacher Jarilyn Nichols have tenure coming up on Sept. 1.
