Massena school board appoints new staffers at meeting

MASSENA -- The Massena Central School board on Thursday appointed teacher aides, a girls lacrosse coach, substitutes and approved a leave of absence and resignation.

Appointments:

• Jodi Murphy, high school teacher aide, $17,299 prorated salary

• Marcie Hoxie, Nightengale Elementary teacher aide, $17,299 prorated salary

• Julie White, high school guidance counselor, four-year appointment Jan. 20, 2017 to Jan. 19, 2021, $39,854 salary

• Ed Letham, girls modified lacrosse coach, March 6 to June 30, position is club-funded

Substitutes

• Teacher substitutes: Joshua Belile, Lisa LaPrade, Laura Cook, Kimberly Kernehanm Cassidy Peets, Kristin Molnar, $80 per day each

• Support staff substitutes: Kristin Molnar and Jeanne Jemison, $9.70 or $10.60 per hour; Elizabeth Peets and Rozane Garrow, $9.70 per hour

• Bus driver substitute: Tyler Chase, $15 per hour

• Nightengale Latchkey monitor substitutes: Lynda Murphy and Maureen Frary, $9.70 per hour

• Registered nurse substitute: Linda Smith, $100 per day

• Long-term teach substitutes: Kimberly Lang, $100 to $150 per day, Jan. 16 to May 1, certified in literacy; Linda Freiman, $80 to $120 per day, Nov. 22-TBD

Leave of absence

• Shannon Smith, J.W. Leary Junior High library specialist, Feb. 6 to March 20, personal medical leave

Resignation

• Marci Schneider, internal claims auditor, left Jan. 3 citing personal reasons

Salary adjustments

• Margaret Farrell, high school physical education teacher, now paid $42,716 after completing her master’s degree

• Ruth Short, Jefferson Elementary special education teacher, now paid $77,781 salary after completing additional coursework

• Steven Booth, high school special education teacher, now paid $49,265 after completing additional coursework
