MASSENA -- A group of Massena residents plans to protest a decision by Walmart to ban a Salvation Army bell ringer who offers song and dance while accepting donations.
In an email to NorthCountryNow.com, Michelle Seymour said Carl Zender, who is known by many Massena shoppers for his colorful approach to collecting donations, has been banned from collecting donations at the store.
"Carl for many years has raised a lot of money for a very good cause and never harmed anyone while doing it," she said. "Many people look forward to seeing Carl every holiday season. I personally have had people from out of town ask me about him and tell me how great they think he is."
Using Facebook as a rallying point, Seymour and more than 600 others have shown support by saying they will visit the store tomorrow at 6 p.m. "to let Walmart know how we feel about this," Seymour aid.
