MASSENA -- The Massena Republicans nominated two people on Tuesday to run for town offices in the November election.
Raymond Fenton will seek one of two town council seats up for grabs on Nov. 3.
Pamela Catanzarite is running for town clerk.
“We hope all the voters in Massena get out and vote, no matter what party,” Massena GOP chair Sue Bellor said. “We’ve got some strong candidates and we hope people will vote for them.”
Democrats currently occupy the two town council seats that will be on the ballot.
One of them, John Macaulay, has been on the board for nearly two decades and is not seeking a new term.
The other, Democrat Thomas Miller, was elected in 2013 to full an unexpired term. He will seek his party’s nod.
Georgette Davis held the town clerk’s office since the mid-1990s and recently retired.
“We thanked [her] for 20 years of service as town clerk,”
Bellor said her party’s voters endorsed St. Lawrence County Sheriff Kevin Wells, who is up for re-election but is unopposed.
She said they heard from state Supreme Court justice candidate Mary Farley.
“She explained the process of how important it is to get out and vote or we could lose our chamber. It was very interesting,” Bellor said.
