MASSENA -- Massena Police have received numerous reported of an IRS scam going around the area again.
Chief Adam Love says calls originating from Texas are being reported to police. He said the scammers claim to be from the IRS and U.S. Treasurer’s Office.
Police remind the public to be aware of possible schemes and refer to the www.irs.gov for tax information.
Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman issued a similar warning in February to St. Lawrence County residents.
These scams, identified by complaints and other evidence collected by the Attorney General’s Office, often target seniors, students, and first-generation Americans.
