MASSENA -- Village police investigators say they are seeking a “good Samaritan” who brought the victim of Monday’s shooting to get medical attention.

“The victim claims a good Samaritan brought him to the hospital. I would like that good Samaritan to contact us,” Massena Police Chief Mark LaBrake said. “The incident remains under investigation.”

The chief asks the person, or anyone else with information on the shooting, to call 769-3577.

On Monday, police responded to Massena Memorial Hospital at 1:50 p.m. for a report of a male patient with a gunshot wound to the shoulder. The victim was reported to be in stable condition, police said.

Initial information led investigators to believe the shooting occurred at McDonald’s, 324 South Main St.

“During our investigation, we determined the shooting did not occur at that location,” LaBrake said in a prepared statement.

Massena Police, in conjunction with state troopers, continues to probe where the shooting actually took place.

“We believe this shooting is an isolated incident and there was no threat to the general public,” LaBrake said.
