MASSENA -- The Police Department will contract with Onondaga County to use their online fingerprint system at a cost of $1,000 per year, the Board of Trustees voted on Tuesday.
Police Chief Mark LaBrake said the system saves time and effort.
He said instead of an officer having to spend a half hour making three sets of cards, they can take a suspect’s prints one time and upload it, which he said takes about 10 minutes.
“We had a subject who said he was one name and we knew he was lying. We went in and ran his fingerprints and we knew in 10 minutes,” LaBrake said. “It allows us to pull up mugshots from other communities.”
