MASSENA -- The vice president of the nurses’ union at Massena Memorial Hospital says the one-year collective bargaining agreement ratified Monday night is a good deal.
“We felt this is a good contract,” MMH New York State United Nurses Vice President Bobbi Jo Lauber said in a prepared statement from the hospital. “We felt negotiations went smoothly and are pleased with the outcome.”
Massena Memorial Hospital Board of Managers at their Monday night February meeting approved the one-year deal.
The hospital’s union nurses okayed the agreement on Friday, Feb. 17.
The agreement, covering registered professional nurses at Massena Memorial Hospital, includes a wage increase for all members, the creation of an additional wage step to recognize longevity and changes to the health insurance benefit. The agreement represents a commitment of $174,690 of additional money to wages, according to a news release from MMH.
“We are pleased that NYSNA and MMH have agreed to a contract that includes an increase, recognizes a commitment of our most senior nurses and supports the great team of professional registered nurses here at MMH. All worked hard to arrive at a fair and equitable agreement that addresses the shared interests of both parties,” MMH CEO Robert Wolleben said in the release.
