POTSDAM – A Massena native is returning to the North Country to paint a mural to beautify the downtown space and deter any more graffiti in the area.
Artist Luann Bailey, formerly Luann Green, was raised in Massena. Bailey will be painting the mural Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 6 and 7. Anyone is welcome to stop by and see the process.
The alley is located between Park Bros Coffee and Rose & Keirnan Inc. on Main Street.
She is teaming up with a few other local artists to make this happen.
Bailey never took a painting or photography class while in college, and instead is completely self-taught. She cherished her childhood in upstate New York which was full of nature, wonder, and community.
Bailey had several murals on display in downtown Massena while she was in high school, presently covered up by construction.
Bailey attended SUNY Potsdam for two years before moving to Oregon for four years to study theology. She lives in Williston, Vt., with her Hawaiian-native husband, Ian, and their two daughters.
Bailey and her husband own two small businesses; Vivid Coffee Roasters and a portrait photography business.
Samantha Polnak manages 16 Main Management, where the mural will be created.
