MASSENA -- Massena Memorial Hospital has been named a “Most Wired” hospital by the 18th Health Care’s Most Wired survey, released by the American Hospital Association’s (AHA) Health Forum.

“Most Wired” hospitals are using telehealth to fill gaps in care, provide services around the clock and expand access to medical specialists, according to MMH.

Officials say it is “a merit recognizing the organization’s adoption of industry leading operational, financial and clinical technologies.”

This is the seventh straight year they received the title and the eighth in the last 10 years.

“In order to provide our patients with the highest level care, Massena Memorial Hospital has prioritized the efficient adoption and use of cutting edge industry technology as a major piece of our mission,” said MMH CEO Robert G. Wolleben. “At MMH we focus daily on meeting the same standards as industry leaders like the Cleveland Clinic and Mayo Clinic. We are thrilled to see that commitment honored with our seventh consecutive Most Wired distinction.”

A statement from MMH said this year’s survey results show among “Most Wired” hospitals:

• The top three telehealth services offered in hospitals are consultations and office visits, stroke care, and psychiatric examinations and psychotherapy.

• Stroke care is the most rapid growth area for telehealth services up 38 percent from 2015, as evidence-based studies emphasize the time urgency of stroke care.

• More than 25 percent of hospitals use internet-enabled monitoring devices for chronic disease management of congestive heart failure, diabetes and heart disease.
