MASSENA -- Massena Memorial Hospital hosts support groups for a variety of ailments and medical needs, ranging from assistance for new mothers to substance abuse issues to helping people deal with chronic disease.
Breastfeeding support group meets at 10 a.m. on the first Tuesday of the month, except holidays, at the New Testament Church Nursery, 265 Andrews St. The facilitator is Snow Harper-Moulton, a certified childbirth educator. No registration is required. Refreshments will be served. Info: 769-4349.
Cancer support group meets at 7 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month except holidays, in the MMH lower level conference room. The group is for patients, caregivers, family members or friends and the bereaved. Info: Robin Beeson, 769-5359.
Celiac support group meets at 5 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month except holidays, in the MMH main floor board room. Info: 769-4305.
Childbirth preparation classes are Wednesdays at 7 p.m. in the MMH community education room. A mom-to-be should sign-up by 20 weeks gestation. Upcoming classes start Jan. 7, Feb. 4, March 4, April 1, May 13, June 3, July 1, Aug. 12, Sept. 2, Oct. 7, Nov. 4 and Dec. 2. Register: 769-4349.
Fibromyalgia support group meets the second Saturday of the month in January, February, March, April, November and December at 1:30 p.m., in the MMH lower level conference room. The meetings for May, June, July, August, September and October are the second Monday of the month at 7 p.m., also in the lower level conference room.
