Massena Memorial Hospital hires two family medicine doctors

MASSENA – Massena Memorial Hospital recently hired two family medicine doctors.

Matthew Prionas, MD, and Rohit Barreto, MD are board certified in family medicine. They are welcoming new patients and referrals for all family medical needs including specializing in comprehensive health care, diagnosing and treating acute and chronic illnesses, routine health screening and counseling on lifestyle changes in an effort to prevent illnesses, preventive and acute care to include immunizations, hypertension, diabetes, smoking cessation, weight management, and family health services.

Prionas and Parreto will be practicing in the MMH Medical Group, joining Dr. Ammar Kafa and Physician Assistant Cassandra Debien LaShomb in the group practice.

Barreto’s training included a residency program through the Florida Hospital Allopathic Family Medicine Residency Program in Winter Park, Fla. and work at the Department of Veterans Affairs in Orlando, Fla. since 2013. In 2013, Barreto earned his medical degree at Saba University School of Medicine in Saba, Netherlands-[img_assist|nid=180264|title=Rohit Barreto, MD |desc=|link=none|align=right|width=250|height=318]Antilles. Also in 2013, Barreto earned his bachelor of science degree at York University (Kinesiology & Health Science Honors) in Toronto, Ont. He graduated magna cum laude and as a member of Dean’s Honors.

In 2014, Barreto was chosen as the Resident Association President and Peer elected Associate Chief Resident through the Florida Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program.
